Astro-Physics introduced the re-imagined "Gran Turismo" at the Northeast Astronomy Forum (NEAF) on April 18, 2015. The triplet lens is the same extraordinary quality that you have come to expect from Astro-Physics.
- 3.5" Astro-Physics focuser - silky smooth with a greaseless drawtube and the dual-speed mechanism of the FeatherTouch 9:1 Micro. The dual-speed feature is particularly advantageous for critically focusing this fast focal ratio. A digital focusing system is available for imaging.
- Rotating focuser "captain's wheel" collar will enable you to frame your images for optimal, artistic composition.
- Optional Tri-TCC Telecompressor Corrector converts the 130GTX to a blazingly fast 585 mm focal length, f/4.5 imaging machine with pinpoint stars across the field! (13035TCC-3)
- Optional 3.5" Prime Focus Field Flattener. (13035FF-3)
- Compact, lightweight tube assembly that can be disassembled into two parts to fit into your carry-on luggage. Optional machined aluminum covers are used to close and protect each end of the tube. (T13012 & T13014F-B)
- Fully retractable felt-lined dew shield slides to its fully extended position and then uses a twist-lock feature to secure it in place.
- Latest multi-coating technology will provide optimum light transmission.
As shown above, the 130 StarFire GTX Gran Turismo can be disassembled to fit into a case for airline transport. Note that the optional covers are attached to the components.
The Mach2GTO German Equatorial mount is recommended for visual observation or astro-imaging. The unique quick-and-easy daytime polar-alignment routine makes it ideal when setting up for star parties and public outreach. The intuitive GoTo Keypad serves as a full-featured mini-computer or use a Planetarium program on your PC or Mac computer. You can even control the basic functions of the mount with your mobile smart device. If you already own a Mach1GTO, that's a great fit, as well.
