The QUADTCC was designed to cover large format cameras with 9 micron pixel such as the 35mm STL11000 and cameras with 16803 chips. These have 9 micron pixel sizes which are more forgiving and do not have the hyper resolution of the latest CMOS cameras with 3.75 micron and smaller pixels. While the QUADTCC will full illuminate the 35mm field size of these cameras, the field at the edges is not perfectly sharp in these small pixel cameras.
130GTX and 130GT: The QUADTCC was originally developed with the 130GTX to use with full-frame camera sensors that had 7.4 micron pixels and larger and work quite well with these cameras. However, the fast focal ratio of the 130GTX and 130GT were not an optimal match with the QUADTCC when paired with the newer 3.75mm micron pixel cameras. In 2024, new TCCs were designed and introduced.
For these scopes, we recommend the 13035TCC-3 (available July 2024) and 13035TCC-2 (available in the Fall 2024).
TEC 140 F7, 160 F7 and 180 F7mm refractors: The QUADTCC remains an excellent option for imaging with these longer focal lengths when paired with cameras with larger micron pixels appropriate for these scopes. Please read the information below.
AP 155EDF: We offer a specialized optical design for these refractors, the QUADTCC-155.
QUADTCC is Recommended for These Scopes:
- TEC 140mm f7. Has Starlight Instruments 3.5" focuser, so requires our S35RFAA adapter.
- TEC 160mm f7. Has Starlight Instruments 3.5" focuser, so requires our S35RFAA adapter.
- TEC 180mm f7. Has Starlight Instruments 3.5" focuser, so requires our S35RFAA adapter.
Construction
- Four carefully matched glass elements are carefully figured and then coated with the very latest multi-coatings to produce this optical wonder. All mechanical parts, including the covers, are CNC machined and black anodized with a lustrous finish.
- The male threads are 3.270" x 16
Back-focus Spacers and Focuser Adapters
The following chart shows the back-focus spacing (as measured from the rear flange of the back-focus spacer) is 80.8 mm +/- 1.0 mm.
Determine the appropriate Back-focus Spacer for the telescope that you plan to use and purchase it separately. If own more than one of the telescopes listed below, you are in luck. Simply purchase the appropriate Back-focus Spacer to use the QUADTCC with that scope as well.
Scope | Focuser or Adapter Required | Back-focus Spacer Required | Back-focus Spacing | Spacing with Back-focus Spacer | Spacing without Back-focus Spacer |
TEC 140 F7 | S35RFAA | EXT327-18.3 (formerly A2680) | 18.3 mm | 80.8 mm | 99.1 mm |
TEC 160 F7 | S35RFAA | EXT327-17.0 (formerly A5022) | 17.0 mm | 80.8 mm | 97.8 mm |
TEC 180 F7 | S35RFAA | EXT327-16.0 (formerly A5023) | 16.0 mm | 80.8 mm | 96.8 mm |
3.27" Spacer Rings (SRSET-327, formerly A5025SET) and 2.7" Spacer Rings (SRSET-27)
In most imaging setups it will not be necessary to modify the spacing distance. However, there may be some sensor/camera combinations that can benefit by making slight changes to this spacing. A set of three 1 mm thick spacer rings is being offered that can be used in special circumstances to modify the back-focus spacing of the Telecompressor Corrector.
Use with CMOS Cameras up to 35mm
Adapters are available for use with CMOS cameras with thread sizes of 48, 54 and 68mm. These are designed for the popular CMOS cameras currently available that utilize the 55mm standard spacing. You must use the appropriate Back-Focus Spacer for this image train.

Use with Canon EOS and Nikon DSLR and Mirrorless Cameras
We recommend using the required Back-focus Spacer, which will provide back-focus spacing of 80.8mm for coupling directly to our camera adapters below.
- Canon EOS DSLR Camera Adapter with large 1.875" (47.6mm) diameter stainless steel bayonet. (ADATCCEOS)
- Nikon DSLR Camera Adapter with large 1.73" (44mm) diameter stainless steel bayonet. (ADATCCNIK)
- Canon EOS Mirrorless Camera Adapter with large diameter stainless steel “RF” Lens bayonet. (ADACAN-RF)
- Nikon Z Mirrorless Camera Adapter with large diameter stainless steel “Z” Lens bayonet. (ADANIK-Z)

Focuser Adapter for a TEC scope Installation
You will also need to order a Drawtube Endcap (S35RFAA), shown below, for TEC focusers. The S35RFAA screws onto the drawtube's 4.100" x 24 thread (same as Starlight Instrument's 3.5" focuser endcap thread).
Custom Spacers & Adapters
If you need a spacer or adapter for a configuration that is not described above, we recommend that you contact PreciseParts. You may also review the following diagram that shows additional components you might find useful. Keep in mind that some are legacy parts: Field Flatteners, TCCs & QUADTCC Imaging Train Options
